Naturally being a diehard Sixers fan, I hate when we have to match up against the Boston Celtics during the playoffs. For some reason, we find it difficult to get past these guys… either way I’m a fan of basketball talent in general. With that said, I can’t hate on any NBA athlete and how much they make but I do pay attention to the commentary from other fans of the game.

As Allen Iverson prepared to play his first game back as a sixer at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, he ran over to center court during player introductions and kissed the 76ers logo.

While his career was filled with criticism and some disappointment, no one can deny the passion that AI played with. Furthermore, it was always evident that AI gave 110% of his soul to every game, to every sixer fan because he loved playing for Philadelphia fans. While we may not understand fully why AI felt he needed to carry out this gesture, his humility and respect for the city’s fans is evident. This piece was inspired by that humility Iverson showed, it is an emotional moment captured through art. I love the moment with Hip-hop stoutly flying the flag and supporting AI as he kneels to kiss the Sixer’s logo.
